Book Gifting Appeal – A Big Thank You!

Book Gifting Appeal – A Big Thank You!

Thanks to generous donations, our Books for Christmas appeal on Just Giving has reached the £3,000 target!

The appeal has helped Read Manchester and Manchester Libraries gift brand new books to local children who need them most via foodbanks, community grocers and family support centres.

Manchester South Central Foodbank benefit from gifted books. One parent said:

“This is a valuable service for many families in our community who suffer financially. Everything is so expensive now and we have lots of mouths to feed- mine are all my grandchildren living with me. Thank you”

Healthy Me Healthy Communities is an organisation that gifts books from Read Manchester at their Community Grocer food pantry projects. They told us:

“We love providing books to our centre users. They are often going through financial and mental hardship and the simple act of gifting a book can bring a lot of joy and happiness. Anything that helps provide a present helps relieve parents of financial burden.”

Huge thanks to Bethell Group Plc who supported the appeal this year at their annual Christmas Jumper Day!

Staff were invited to wear their best festive garb and raised a total of £327.60!

Bethell staff have also volunteered their time this year to help us deliver books to organisations around the city, ensuring that every child gets the opportunity to develop a life long love of reading.

Thank you again for helping us reach the £3,000 target: Books for Christmas 2025 – JustGiving
